PROFILE

Dr. Digne E. Rwabuhunguis an Acting Dean of the School of Mining and Geology (SMG). He acts also as the experienced Senior Lecturer in charge of General Geology, Geology for Engineers, Hydrogeology and Hydrology.  Within the 20 year period of academic period, he actively involved in University administration and lecturing activities since1st March, 1995.

His excellent performance in academia world was fueled with the education gotten from the regional and internationally reputable university. He holds a BSC in Geology, an MSc in Hydrogeology and a PhD in Geology from UniversitéLibre de Bruxelles (U.L.B), Belgium.  His research publication was mainly concerned with tackling the problems related to Applied Geologysuch as Environmentalmonitoringof Lake Kivu Methane gas and Hydrogeology and Geothermal energy. He is also the author of several publications, these are exemplified by publications found in the chapter of“Geology of Rwanda”, of the Africa Atlases Rwanda.   He recently elaborates the curricula for undergraduate geology and mining programs of the school of Mining and Geology. He is also nominated by the University of Rwanda as Tuning Africa Project representative, where he was elected Africa Team Coordinator of Applied Geology team. Dr. Digne Rwabuhungu is also the University of Rwanda contact person in the Eastern and Southern Africa Petroleum Center of Excellence (ESAPCE) based at Makerere University of Uganda with the World Bank support. By considering his career achievements, it is obvious that he was one of the key personnel in the team which built the high learning institution in geology and mining.
