The 16th edition of AfricaGIS International Conference took place at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (KCEV), Kigali, Rwanda, from 18th to 22nd November 2019. Organized by EIS-Africa and hosted by the University of Rwanda through its College of Science and Technology (UR CST), the conference explored the role of innovations in geospatial information and its implication in addressing the 17 SDGs targets for an inclusive, prosperous and sustainable development of Africa. In total over 400 delegates (300 internationals & 100 locals) attended this big GIS event on African continent. As pointed out by the Rwandan Minister of Innovation and ICT, Conference Guest Honour and Speaker, Hon. Paula Musoni: "Today Geospatial data is used by multiple public institutions for either better management of their data or through supporting decision making in different domains such as public health, education, transportation, urban planning, agriculture to mention but a few".

It is against this background that University of Rwanda College of Science and Technology is calling for full papers, with special encouragement of those successfully presented during the conference. Potential topics are in line with the conference themes, and they include:

  • Smart Spatial Solutions for Sustainable Development;
  • Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security;
  • Geo-ICT Technology for Land Administration and Management;
  • Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources Management;
  • Spatial Planning for Urban and Rural Spaces;
  • Innovative Technologies in Earth Observation and Geo-Information Sciences;
  • Globally Significant Applications of Geo-Information in Private Sector Development.
