Colette Abimana

Colette Abimana is currently a Ph.D. student in energy materials at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and
Technology located in Arusha, Tanzania. She completed her master's degree in Energy
Engineering at the Pan African University Institute of Water and Energy Science
(including Climate change) and a bachelor's degree in Physics at the University
of Rwanda College of Science and Technology. She usually serves as an assistant
lecturer in the physics department at the College of Science and Technology
University of Rwanda with five years of working experience. Her
expertise is in the fabrication of Nano magnetite particles, biogas, and biochars
production using wastes organic matter. She has also basic knowledge of the generation
of energy from other renewable energy resources. She has gained knowledge in
nuclear energy as well through her visit to the International Atomic Energy
Agency (IAEA), where she was trained in the development of a curriculum for the
nuclear physics program to be taught for undergraduate studies and different
laboratory experiments related to nuclear instrumentations. She is keen to become a remarkable researcher
and increase the visibility and use of clean energy technologies to reduce
greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

NIYONZIMA Jean de Dieu

NIYONZIMA Jean de Dieu is an assistant Lecturer in the Physics Department at the College of Science and Technology, University of Rwanda from which he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Fundamental Physics in 2017. He holds a Master of Sciences in Mathematical Sciences from AIMS-Rwanda in 2019. He is currently a PhD student in Physics and Chemistry of materials at Sorbonne Université -UPMC (Université Pierre Marie Currie) at Institu des nanosiences de Paris (INSP). His research interests are focused on topological defects in smectic liquid crystal, nanostructured functional surfaces and thin films and their advanced characterization by grazing incidence small-angle X-ray scattering (GISAXS).

Valérien Baharane is an Assistant Lecturer at University of Rwanda, Department of Physics with a Master's degree in Atmospheric and Climate Science since 2018. He is currently pursuing PhD studies in Earth Science at Peoples's Friendship University of Russia. His research focuses on Modeling the atmospheric pollution dynamics.

Umuhoza Diane

Umuhoza Diane is a molecular biologist with over 10 years of experience in both plant and animal research environment. She has received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnologies and have since committed to advance her studies up to PhD level in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Southwest University, China. Diane is trained to use DNA recombinant techniques, bioinformatics tools and genetic engineering approaches. She has disseminated research outcomes through appropriate channels, as evidenced by peer-review articles, scientific reports and one published book. She is a member of Rwandan Association for Women in Science and Engineering and SynbioRwanda.

Dr. Rongin Uwitije recently joined the University of Rwanda as a Lecturer in the department of Mathematics, School of Science. He holds a PhD in Computational Mathematics from the University of Science and Technology of China. He obtained his MSc in Applied Mathematics at the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. His research interests include, but not limited to: Geometric modeling, Computer-aided design & graphics, image processing, optimization and computational Biology.

Noel Gahamanyi

Dr. Noel Gahamanyi is a Microbiologist with interest in pathogens and their drug-resistance potentials. He got his Ph.D. from Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania.
Dr. Gahamanyi holds an MSc in Microbiology from Jain University (India) and a BSc in Biotechnology from the former National University of Rwanda.
Before embarking on his Ph.D. journey, Dr. Gahamanyi served as a Lecturer of Microbiology-related courses at the Catholic University of Rwanda where he also served as Head of the Biotechnology Department and then as the Vice-dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology (2013-2018).
In Research, Dr. Gahamanyi has ten (10) published papers and one book chapter all related to Microbiology. Five of these papers are indexed in PubMed. He is familiar with both routine microbiology practical sessions and also masters the molecular techniques (PCR, electrophoresis, MLST, sequencing).
Dr. Gahamanyi is a member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and the Young East African Health Research Scientists (YEARS) forum affiliated with the East African Health Research Commission.
Dr. Gahamanyi received a number of awards including the Best Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) Postgraduate student Research Award for the academic year 2020-21 and the First-class with a gold medal after completing MSc in Microbiology at the top of the class (2013).

Mr. Joseph HAHIRWABASENGA is an Assistant Lecturer in the Civil, Environmental, and Geomatics Engineering Department, School of Engineering, College of Science and Technology, University of Rwanda. He holds a B.Sc. Degree in Water and Environmental Engineering from the former Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) in 2013, a Diploma in Hydraulic Engineering in River Basins from Hydraulic Research Institute (HRI), Cairo, Egypt in 2016, and an MSc. Degree in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation for Water Resources and Environmental Management from ITC, University of Twente, the Netherlands in 2019, currently he is a Ph.D. student at Lund University, Sweden in Water Resources Engineering Division, Building and Environmental Technology Department, Ph.D. research topic “Modelling for Flood Control and Management in Sebeya River Catchment Western Province Rwanda”. His research interest is Water Resources and Environmental Engineering.

His research interests focus on Air Quality and Climate, as well as the linkages between them.
