Bio:
Dr. ABAHO Gershome is the head of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering in the school of Engineering, College of Science and Technology at University of Rwanda. Dr. Gershome is also a Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering Infrastructure Management: structure health soundness monitoring and maintenance of roads, bridges and buildings. He has a diploma and BSc. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering obtain from the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology, Rwanda. His holds Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering obtained from Jain University in India. His main research interests include but not limited to Corrosion of steel embedded reinforcements in concrete structures, Construction Materials related research (Complete Block Shear Fracture Failure Finite Element Analysis, Bamboo and Mud bricks, Volcanic rock materials ect), Retrofitting of Internal combustion engines motorcycles into electric motorcycles. Dr Gershome is a reviewer of scientific research: Thesis, research proposals, and papers to be published in peer reviewed journal. He has reviewed more He has reviewed more than 12 scientific research works in the area of civil Engineering. Dr.Gershome has published 6 conference papers and 9 peer reviewed journal papers. Dr. Gershome has led 6 projects as Principal Investigator with 3 which have been successfully completed. Currently, two projects are ongoing: Geotechnical soil investigation for selected 290 villages from Kigali City phase-IV project and Sustainable Urban Development through Logistics Education in Rwanda (SUDLogER). 2 projects have been scheduled to start in January 2023: These include Hiking at Kanyinya project; Retrofitting of Internal combustion engines motorcycles into electric motorcycles.
In teaching: Dr.Gershome has taught both undergraduate and post graduate students at University of Rwanda and Jain University. In undergraduate level, he is a lecturer: 1. Advance Residential Buiding science and Systems, 2. Advanced Construction Technology 3. Construction project Equipment Management and Scheduling 4. Research Methodology and Maintenance, Repair and Rehabilitation of Reinforced concrete structures.
At post graduate level: He is a lecturer of:
1. Advanced Irrigation Structure Design
2. Corrosion Engineering
3. Infrastructure Health Monitoring Design Systems and
4. Research Methodogy.

Dr. Gershome has supervised more 30 undergraduate students, 4 master’s students and 2 PhD students.
Dr.Gershome is team leader of Transportation Engineering in Priority Skills for Growth for results (PSG PforR) World Bank project funded by World Bank. He is International Technical Advisor on Bangalore Water Board. He Team member Rwanda National road committee. He is also a member of institute of engineers Rwanda (IER).
He worked at Nyagatare district as specialist in-charge of infrastructure. He served two terms as elected member of Nyagatere district council and the head of the economic development commission. He is a former director general of seeds of hope.
