Dr. KURUJYIBWAMI Celestin (Senior Lecturer, Pure Mathematics, celeku@yahoo.fr)

Bio:
Dr. Célestin Kurujyibwami is currently the Senior Lecturer and Head of the department of Mathematics, School of Science at University of Rwanda–College of Science and Technology, where he has been serving since May, 2007. He received a Bachelor degree in Applied Mathematics from National University of Rwanda in 2005, and received a Master of Sciences in Mathematics at Nairobi University, Nairobi-Kenya in 2010. He is a holder of Doctor of Philosophy (Mathematics) from Linköping University, Sweden, June 2017. His areas of interest are: Lie groups and Lie algebras, Lie symmetry analysis of Differential equations and Differential Geometry. Célestin Kurujyibwami has been involved in research grant applications as a member. He is now a member in the research group: Eastern Africa Algebra Reseach group (EAALG). This project is aiming at alleviating the state of Algebra in the region. Dr. Celestin is also a member of the project studying the Mathematical Models for predecting and monitoring the impact of COVID-19 in Rwanda. He has been involved in research papers published in refereed journals. He is teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programs and supervising undergraduate and postgraduates students. Currently one Msc student has graduated and one ongoing and 2 PhD students are under his guidance.
Célestin visited different research places for research presentations and collaaboration: Stocholom University (Sweden), Koscielisko (Poland), Larnaca (Cyprus), Makerere University (Uganda), Nairobi (Kenya), Arusha (Tanzaniya), Bishoftu (Ethiopia), Vienna (Austria), ICTP-Trieste(Italy), Palapye, (Botswana), Blantyre, (Malawi),University of Zambia (Zambia). He also participated in the development of East africa Benchmark for Mathematics, August 2019, Arusha (Tanzania).

Dr. Célestin holds different responsabilities promoting research, Mathematics and STEM areas in general. He is currently, the Eastern Africa University Mathematics Programme (EAUMP) UR-Node Coordinator since 2019, the Chairman of the committee in charge of organizing the Rwanda Mathematics Competition (RMC) and celebration of International Day of Mathematics (IDM-PiDay) in Rwanda since 2018, the member of the organizing committee of the African Mathematics Seminar since 2019, and the chairman of the organizing committee for EAUMP-ICTP School, 2021.
