Dr. Ukundimana Zubeda

Dr. Zubeda Ukundimana is a Lecturer at the University of Rwanda, college of science and technology. She holds a bachelor;s degree in Chemical Engineering, a master’s degree in environmental Engineering both from Badji Mouktar University (Algeria). She holds a PhD degree in Environmental Engineering from Gebze Technical University (Turkey). She has 12 years of lecturing experience at different Universities. Her research interests include but not limited Biomass and waste to Energy technologies, Water and wastewater treatment technologies, air pollution control and solid waste management. Five of Dr.Zubeda’s research works have been recognized and published in international peer reviewed journals, in ELSEVIER. Dr.Zubeda has participated and presented in two international conferences and two national symposiums. She is an active member of the Rwanda Association of professional Environmental practitioners(RAPEP)and a certified lead expert of Environmental Assessments including Environmental impact assessments of various projects, strategical environmental assessments of governmental plans, policies and programs and Environmental audits. Currently Dr.Zubeda is a Co-Principal Investigator of a research project sponsored by the UR and entitled : “IoT based Early Warning System for Flood and Droughts Disasters Prediction Purpose Using Machine Learning Techniques: Case of Umuvumba River”, which was granted by the UR under the research grants related to the Climate Change Adaptation and Ecosystem-Based Adaptation Approach. Dr.Zubeda is also a coordinator of another project entitled ‘’North-South-Alliance for inclusive water, sanitation, and hygiene (All4WASH)’’ sponsored by the Norwegian Ministry of High Education and skills. Dr.Zubeda is dedicated to mentorship and empowerment of young females towards studying STEM related field. She is
the Vice-chairperson of the Organization for women in science for developing world, Rwanda National Chapter (OWSD-RNC) and an active member of Rwanda Association for women in science and Engineering(RAWISE).
