Bio:
John is an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Rwanda (UR) – College of Science and Technology (CST) in the School of Engineering (SoE), Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (CEGE).

He holds Master of Science in Transportation Engineering & Economics from (UR-CST), 2015. Master of Construction Project Management at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology, 2021. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in engineering majoring in Construction Engineering and Management from the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology, 2009. Some of other selected specialized trainings include PPP in Urban Environment (Yale University, USA), Arbitration (CIArb), Conflict Resolution, Urban Land Administration (Gävle Sweden).

His rich practical experience in the construction industry working for both public and private sectors earned John sounding technical and managerial expertise that enabled him contribute to establishment and implementation of a number of policies, construction projects and several other consultancies. Mr. Kalamagye is a certified engineer, former member of the Governing Council (2013-2019), where he also served as the Institution’s Registrar. He is a member of the Executive Board of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific since 2019. Member of Standing Technical Committee on Engineering Education, Federation of Africa Engineering Organizations since 2020. Other Professional engagements include Certified Valuer, Institute of Real Property Valuers Rwanda, 2010. Member, Regulatory Council of Real Property Valuation in Rwanda, 2016 (Cabinet Appointment); Accredited Arbitrator, Kigali International Arbitration Center, since 2014 and CIArb Associate Member.

His areas of interest in research include Construction Project Management, Safety Management, Transportation economics & Asset Management, Public Transport, Financing Infrastructure Projects and Green mobility on Transport infrastructure.
