 Kellen SUMWIZA

Kellen Sumwiza is currently a PhD student in Wireless Intelligence Sensor Network at the University of Rwanda through the African Center of Excellence in the Internet of Things. She is an assistant lecturer at the University of Rwanda College of Science and Technology’s School of ICT Department of Information Systems. She is also a member of RAWISE and OWSD National chapter
Kellen grew up with a strong desire to become an engineer, directing her early interest in math-physics options in secondary school. This interest prompted her to study Computer Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Rwanda former Kigali Institute of Science and Technology. Kellen went on to earn a Master’s degree in Information Systems from Nairobi University in Kenya, where she developed a strong background in information systems, with specific knowledge in databases and programming using various programming languages, and gained valuable experience that she now uses to solve real-world problems.
After earning her master’s degree, Kellen worked in an academic institution for several years, gaining valuable experience and honing her skills in teaching style, curriculum development, and the ability to make complex technical concepts accessible to her students while mentoring them. Kellen is actively involved in research, with a specific focus on the Internet of Things and Wireless Intelligent Sensor Networks. Her long-term research interests include using Machine Learning and the Internet of Things to solve many of the world’s problems in various areas.
