Bio:
Mr. Philbert HABIMANA is currently an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Rwanda, College of Science and Technology, School of Engineering in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering.
He holds a Master of Science (MSc.) in Civil Engineering speciliasing in Structural Engineering from the University of Cape Town (UCT) – South Africa in August 2017. He earned a 5 year Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Civil engineering and Environmental Technology from the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) – Rwanda in March 2011. He also earned a Professional Certificate of Secondary Education in Public Works and Construction from Ecole Technique Officielle de Muhima (ETO Muhima) – Rwanda.
He is an Associate Member of the South African Institution of Civil Engineers (SAICE) since 2015.
He has also expertise in Academic Institutional Audit, Curriculum Development and Curriculum Review, and Program Evaluation.
His teaching activities involved the following modules: Design of Steel and Timber Structures, Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures I, Basics of Reinforced Concrete Design, Mechanics of Materials, Strength of Materials, Construction Materials and Technology, Engineering Mechanics, Engineering drawing and CAD, and Structural Analysis I and II.
He has supervised more than ten (10) undergraduate’s final year projects.
His research interests include the Structural Integrity with an emphasis on Structural Strengthening, Repair and Rehabilitation of Structures, Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), Structural Performance, Structural Reliability and Structural Maintenance and Quality Control.
