Mr. Majyambere Silas

An Assistant Lecturer at University of Rwanda, College of Science and Technology, School of ICT since 2008. Mr. Silas holds a masters of Computer Science obtained from the former National University of Rwanda in 2012. He is currently undertaking PhD studies at Stockholm University in Sweden. His research focuses on applying Data Science in Healthcare for disease progression monitoring, specifically his research is about using Time Series Based Deep Learning Models for Managing Diabetes, he explores the use of attention based models such as Long-Short Term Memory(LSTM) and Transformers when building Healthcare Predictive Models with long-range sequences of clinical events. Mr. Silas is interested in teaching Programming Languages (Java, Python, C++, JavaScript), Computer Networking, System Administration, Data Science, Big Data, Explained Artificial Intelligence, Healthcare Decision Support Systems, and Information Security. He is a Cisco CCNA instructor and he has trained more than 3000 people during 15 years in Cisco Academy. At different times he was appointed as program coordinator (Evening Program in 2008, Rusizi Campus in 2010, Musanze Campus in 2018). Mr. Silas was one of the team members who developed the curriculum of Rwanda Coding Academy. In 2022, he taught Java and UNIX Programming at Carnegie Mellon University Africa Campus in the Orientation Program. Mr. Silas believes that knowledge is good when it is shared and it has value when it is applied. Mr. Silas inspires a big number of young generation of changemakers by sharing the principles of 21st century skills and how they can be applied in our everyday life and tips of how to succeed in the era of technology.
