Munyaburanga Vivien

Vivien Munyaburanga is currently Lecturer at University of Rwanda since 2005 and is also working as Senior Consultant on freelance in Urban Infrastructure Planning. He obtained his Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering in 2003 then obtained his Master of Science in 2007 in Urban Planning with focus in ‘Urban Infrastructure Planning’ from University of ITC-Twente in The Netherlands.
At former NUR, Vivien has been Head of Department in Civil Engineering from 2008 to 2014 and played key role as Coordinator of Cooperation Project between University of Rwanda (UR) and Belgian Consortium of French Speaking Universities (ARES) for over 10+years since 2010. He has been Lecturer of several modules but to name a few:

 “Methods and Techniques in Urban and Regional Planning (since 2008)
 Lecturer of Transportation & Traffic Management;
 Lecturer of Building Services given to Final Year Students in Civil Engineering
 Lecturer of Ground Improvement Techniques (GIT) given to Final Year Students in Civil Engineering – Geotechnical Option.
 “Engineering Survey I & II”, 2nd Year Civil Engineering.

Vivien Munyaburanga has since been involved in key major projects. To name but a few:
 Senior Infrastructure Specialist for the development of the Rwanda National Land Use and Development Master Plan (NLUDMP) by Tzamir Architects & Planners Ltd, based in Israel, played the role of senior urban planner and engineer for consultancy services to carry out the 2050 Rwanda National Land Use and Development Master Plan and Update of the National Basemap” (NLUDMP);
 Senior Urban Planner for SGI & IBC Group on the Feasibility Study and Detailed Designs for Wetland Rehabilitation in the City of Kigali” (the “Project”). This Project is part of the Rwanda Urban Development Project, Phase II (RUDP II) funded by the World Bank.
 Senior Infrastructure and Geotechnical Specialist for the Feeder Roads Master Plan in Rwanda by LEA Associates (2021-2022);
 Senior Infrastructure Specialist on behalf of HORWATH HTL for “Consultant Services for the Development of Tourism Sub-Master Plan for the Eastern Province of Rwanda N° 07/ICB/S/MINICOM-OB/2015-2016” (2015-16); for “Heritage Corridor Tourism Sub-Master Plan N° 008/S/MINICOM OB/2013-2014” (2014-15); and for “Consultant Services for The Development of Kivu Belt Tourism Sub-Master Plan - N° 004/2012/SPIU/MINICOM” (2012-13)
 Lead Geotechnical Consultant for KOICA for the Sustainable Agricultural Productivity and Market Linkage Project (SAPMP), Geotechnical Investigations and Soils Survey for the Nyiramageni Marshland located in Gisagara and Nyanza District in Rwanda.
Vivien Munyaburanga is very fluent in English and French and has several certificates of good completion as Urban Infrastructure Specialist as well as Geotechnical Engineer. He has extensive working experience in Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, DRC and Burundi.
Vivien Munyaburanga is married to Aziza Lola and has 2 daughters.
