UWIRAGIYE EUGENIE

Dr. Eugenie Uwiragiye obtained her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with first class honor and was awarded the best female student in institute during 2011 academic year in Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST). In April 2012, she got a position of tutorial assistant in the same department and institute where she was the first Rwandan female employee to be appointed in Mechanical Engineering department. In August 2013, she was awarded a Korean government scholarship to pursue her master’s studies whereby she graduated with Master of Engineering in Materials Science and Engineering in 2016 at Chonnam National University (South-Korea) and the same year, she was promoted to Assistant Lecturer at University of Rwanda, College of Science and Technology (former KIST).From August 21, 2017 to August 27,2017, University of Rwanda (UR) appointed her to attend training on challenge driven Education which took place at KTH in Stockholm(Sweden) and she learned the challenge driven education in theory and practice, sustainability and UN sustainable development goals as well. From July 2017 to July 2019, she was appointed as Publicity envoy for the Korean Government scholarship program by the president of National Institute for International Education (NIIED) of the Republic of Korea. Currently, she holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Chonnam National University (South-Korea) and she is a lecturer at University of Rwanda, teaching Composite Engineering Materials and, Engineering Materials and Metallurgy . As a researcher, she is interested in processing of lead-free piezoelectric materials (single crystals and ceramics) for high-performance sensors, transducers, and actuators. She has published in internationally recognized journals, and she presented her works in more than five international conferences. She is a member of Rwanda Association of Rwandan Women in Science and Engineering (RAWISE) and Korean Woman Scientists and Engineers- Smart Sister Program (KWSE-SSP).
